Telos Corporation wins Touchle –

ASHBURN, Va., June 21, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Telos® Corporation (TLS), a leading provider of enterprise, cloud and cyber security solutions for the world’s most security-conscious organizations, today announced that its ONYX® technology won first place in the overall Mobile Fingerprint Information Technology Challenge (mFIT) competition organized by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

The NIST mFIT Challenge strives to advance mobile fingerprinting technologies by encouraging contestants to create and demonstrate prototype applications and accessories for mobile devices for the capture of fingerprints by law enforcement officers. countryside. ONYX shared the overall first place designation with French firm Idemia.

“The mFIT Challenge is focused on improving the technologies law enforcement needs to efficiently and effectively perform their mission and identify people in the field,” said Chace Hatcher, Telos vice president of technology and innovation and co-inventor. by ONYX. “ONYX is the world’s first and most accurate contactless fingerprint biometric software for mobile devices, and I’m proud to see it earn this recognition and validation from NIST.”

ONYX is a contactless mobile biometric solution that leverages a device’s camera to capture the user’s unique fingerprint, enabling quick and easy collection of fingerprint biometric data. Telos added ONYX technology to IDTrust360 when acquired the assets of Diamond Fortress Technologies in August 2021.

“When we acquired the assets of Diamond Fortress Technologies last year, it was very much based on the promise of ONYX,” said Mark Griffin, executive vice president of security solutions at Telos. “The results of the mFIT Challenge are just the beginning of that promise becoming a reality. This proprietary contactless fingerprint technology will remove much of the friction in biometric data collection for identity and access management and better serve our growing customer base.”

Through the mFIT Challenge, NIST sought innovative new or improved mobile applications that access sensors available in commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) mobile devices to capture high-quality digital fingerprint images. Participants were asked to submit a mobile app that captures quality digital images of the left and right hands. The ultimate goal of this challenge was to advance the technology while retaining the form factor of the mobile device.

In addition to first place in the overall competition, Telos also tied Idemia for the mFIT Challenge First Responder’s Choice Award.
